¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival 2019 Tour

Season

Please note : this season finished in April 2019

After a 10-year hiatus, the ¡Viva! Spanish and Latin American Film Festival Tour is back, bringing the best new cinema from Spain and Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Centred around the the theme of Celebrating Women in Global Cinema, the films all foreground female creative talent in the roles of director, writer, producer or star.

From the bold, audacious tale of Ana De Día – a thrilling journey into the personal liberation of a woman who is replaced by her doppelgänger (director Andrea Jaurrieta joins us for a Q&A after) – to the artful reflection of the female archetypes of virgin, mother, and whore in Alanis – a crackling look at a few days in the life of a female sex worker in Buenos Aires – this is a season infused with fun, satire, and dark humour that skewers the foibles of contemporary society.

Check out our Harbourside neighbour Revolución de Cuba for some deals that’ll get you in the ¡Viva! spirit, including Mojito & Burrito for £8.00 all day Tuesday and their free Sunday Salsa Social! We'll also be cooking up some Spanish and Latin American specials in the Café/Bar - just check the board for details.

Presented by HOME, Manchester, with the support of the BFI, awarding funds from The National Lottery.
