Make Shift Fundamentals

Make Shift Fundamentals Masterclasses are a short series of informal, practical sessions designed to help you get your creative ideas off the ground. Hosted at the Pervasive Media Studio, these masterclasses run throughout February 2026 and are open to 18–30 year olds (ish).

Across the series, members of the Watershed team will share their expertise, exploring topics such as how to grow a creative idea, audience development, contracting, and funding. Whether you’re working on an idea, project, or prototype or just starting to think about what you might want to make - these sessions are a space to learn, ask questions, and get inspired.

You don’t need to attend all four sessions, and there’s no prep required. If you’ve got something you’re trying to kick start this year, bring it along. If you don’t have anything specific in mind, that’s fine too—come along and explore ideas in community with other creatives.

What is Make Shift and who is it for?

Make Shift is Watershed’s ongoing programme of meet-ups, workshops, projects, and activities supporting 18–30s (ish) to explore creative, tech, or film practices and develop their ideas. The Make Shift community includes people at the very early stages of discovering what their practice might be, as well as those starting out in creative careers.

You don’t need to work in the creative industries or identify as having a ‘creative practice’ to take part. If you’re curious, this is for you.
