Cycling - A Social History

Cally Callomon has created a fascinating elegy of the bicycle - riding, restoring and researching ancient bicycles and attempting to ride a Penny Farthing from Lands End to John O'Groats. His growing fascination with cycle history was cemented following a chance meeting with a classic Dursley Pederson bicycle whilst riding from London to Brighton.

This talk, featuring some rare documentary footage, illustrates the social relevance of the cycle as a working device, a thing of pleasure and a means of escape.

Cyclescreen was Bristol's first dedicated bike film festival of inspiring cycling films, documentaries, lectures and interactive events celebrating cycling culture in its varied forms.
