Daphne: Directors Q&A

As part of Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival 2017, Director Peter Mackie Burns discusses making his first feature film, how Daphne came about and takes questions from the audience.

Daphne is Peter Mackie Burns' striking debut feature which follows the life of an early-thirties Londoner who goes off the rails after witnessing a random act of violence.

In this Director Q&A Mackie Burns talks about the ideas behind bringing Daphne to life – based on the simple questions of how does a normal person live, how do they live in a city?

This Director Q&A took place after a preview screening of Daphne during Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival 2017 in the Shorts2Features strand. Shorts2Features explores filmmakers journeys from short film to feature filmmaking. The audience ask a range of questions about the practicalities of funding and making a feature film, Mackie Burns' directing style and how to keep the passion and faith alive over the long timescales involved in bringing a film making project to fruition.
