Lanscapes of Memory is a deeply personal, thought-provoking film that premiered at True/False 2026.
Filmmaker Leah Galant moved to Germany to trace her family's Holocaust history, expecting a familiar story of return. Then she was detained while filming a pro-Palestine demonstration and charged with antisemitism, and the past could no longer be separated from the present.
Weaving together a Holocaust survivor's descendant, a historian descended from Nazis and a Palestinian artist, alongside Galant's own father's struggle with ALS, Landscapes of Memory asks how memorials can honour lives without being co-opted to perpetuate harm.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion. More details to follow.
