classified 18‘"If you're an admirer of the show and the opportunity should arise for you to see Oxide Ghosts, have some self re-cocking-spect and do so without hesitation''
– Andy Murray, Chortle
On 29 January 1997, Chris Morris’ current affairs satire Brass Eye was first unleashed on an unsuspecting television audience. Thirty years later it’s director, Michael Cumming, begins a tour of his cult film Oxide Ghosts: The Brass Eye Tapes.
Made from hundreds of hours of unseen and behind the scenes footage from his personal archive, and only ever screened at live events, Oxide Ghosts shares insights into the process of making the ground-breaking TV series Brass Eye. Michael directed the series and pilots and, over a two-year period, witnessed the highs and lows from a very personal perspective. The film carries the blessing of Chris Morris and provides a unique glimpse of his extraordinary working practices.
At these special anniversary shows, Michael will be on hand for a Q&A after the film. This event is a must for fans of the series, but will appeal to anyone with a curiosity about how great comedy is made.
This special anniversary screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film's director, Michael Cumming.
Michael Cumming is a director & filmmaker whose back catalogue - aside from Brass Eye - contains such gems as Snuff Box, Mark Thomas Product, Mark Steel Lectures, Matt Berry’s multi-award winning sitcom, Toast Of London and the Stewart Lee fronted, anti-rockumentary film, King Rocker.
