If you're aged 16 - 25 and are looking to build your networks and gain tips and insights to help you navigate the screen industries - whether that’s TV, film or immersive - Inside Screen is for you.

With screenings of recent BFI NETWORK-funded short films, a line-up of very special guest speakers, and a chance to network with your peers and industry professionals, Inside Screen is a day for you to get inspired, get connected and take that next step in your career.

BFI NETWORK South West Shorts: Cinema 1, 12:00 – 13:15

A selection of BFI NETWORK funded shorts made by filmmakers based in the South West. Hosted by BFI NETWORK Talent Executive, Jess Wheeler.

In Conversation with Maria Odufuye: Waterside 3, 14:00 – 14:45

A conversation and Q&A with Marie Odufuye, a talented Script Editor who has worked on titles such as Sex Education (Netflix/Eleven Film); Your Christmas or Mine 2 (Amazon/Shiny Button) EastEnders (BBC) and the End of the F***ing World (Channel 4/Netflix).

Join us to talk about pathways into script editing, developing your own voice in storytelling, and how to receive notes on your scripts.

Networking Workshop with Jazlyn Pinckney: Waterside 3, 15:00 – 15:45

Dread networking? This workshop will help you build your confidence and learn effective networking techniques to develop relationships that will benefit you both personally and professionally. Hosted by Jazlyn Pinckney who has extensive experience in engagement, participation and in coaching the creative sector, and the multi-talented Ella McDonald, Talent & Comms Coordinator (Watershed, BFI NETWORK and BFI Film Academy.)

Networking Session: Waterside 3, 16:00 – 17:00

Put the skills you learned in the workshop into practice! Join a selection of screen industry professionals from producers, commissioners and DoPs to curators and marketeers for this networking session. Don’t miss this great chance to meet fellow creatives, pitch your ideas and pick the brains of regional industry professionals.

This activity is part of the UK-wide BFI Film Academy programme and is supported using funds from the National Lottery.

BFI Film Academy offers opportunities for 16 – 25 year-olds, anywhere in the UK, to get to know more about film and how to make a career in the screen industries. Watershed runs BFI Film Academy South West; open to those across the region from Cornwall through to Gloucestershire and Hampshire.
