In this week's Lunchtime Talk we'll hear from researcher Artemis Bear who will cover how Big Tech has demonstrated itself to be a threat to our privacy, human rights, mental health, and democracy. They will also go into the many ethical, privacy-first alternatives that we could be supporting instead. This talk will cover why we need to take action and offer alternative options for cloud storage, collaborative documents, email, media streaming, social media and hardware. 

About Artemis 

Artemis Bear is a start-up founder, researcher, network weaver, community organiser, facilitator, and culture change strategist. Their with a focuses on deschooling and decolonising for regenerative futures. They're the founder of innovative education project The Garden, as well as a researcher in Alternative Futures for Onion Collective. 

Artemis is also governance officer for radical video game co-op Circle-A Studios and an active co-creator within The Bristol Commons. They're also part of a new initiative called No To Big Tech, which is aiming to support people to divest from big tech by promoting alternatives.
