One-day masterclass: Producing Immersive Tech Projects
Join us for a one-day masterclass designed for producers and self-producing artists working across VR, XR, interactive installations, and other immersive formats. Together, we’ll explore the practical realities of developing and delivering immersive projects.
This is practical, supportive training designed for people who are already producing, or stepping into a producing role, and need to navigate the specific demands that immersive projects using creative technology places on a project. Led by industry experts, it is collaborative, grounded in real-world experience, and built around your project, giving you the tools, awareness and confidence to move your work forward with purpose.
You’ll build a solid understanding of what it takes to produce immersive work that uses a wide range of creative technology, from early concept through to a viable project plan, funding proposal or development pathway.
With expert support and a hands-on approach, you will:
- Situate Your Practice: Define immersive art formats - such as VR, AR, XR, spatial audio, and interactive installations—to position your own ideas within the wider field.
- Navigate Project Stages: Grasp the lifecycle from R&D and prototyping to production and delivery, understanding how each stage dictates budget, quality, and risk.
- Collaborate with Technologists: Demystify working with developers (e.g., Unity/Unreal), mastering how to write briefs, estimate costs, and balance creative intent with technical advice.
- Identify Tech & Workflows: Gain a practical overview of development platforms, hardware, and interactive systems to spot technical requirements and risks early.
- Budget Responsibly: Understand the true resource implications—including hidden costs like maintenance, licensing, fabrication, and contingency.
- Define Purpose & Audience: Clarify why your project must use immersive technology, who it is for, its intended impact, and how technical and production choices support this vision.
