Amazing Grace: YorubaWorlds is a cinematic journey into one of Africa’s great civilizations and the extraordinary ways Yoruba culture, spirituality, music and imagination crossed oceans, survived displacement and transformed the modern world.
Directed by Haitian-American filmmaker Raynald Leconte, the film begins with his personal search for ancestry following Haiti’s 2010 earthquake. Guided by Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka, the journey moves from Yorubaland in Nigeria to Bahia, Brazil, revealing an enduring cultural current connecting Africa and its diaspora.
The film honours Fela Anikulapo Kuti, bringing his revolutionary presence back to life through his music, political voice and enduring influence, alongside Seun Kuti and contemporary artists.
This screening will include an introduction from Afrika Eye and will be followed by a Q&A. More details coming soon.
