A tense and hugely entertaining heist thriller, Cash on Demand is Hammer’s very own take on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. But, as always with Hammer, it comes with a sardonic twist.

This underrated classic stars Peter Cushing as the miserly and fastidious bank manager Harry Fordyce, who welcomes in the bank's insurance company detective, Hepburn (Andre Morell), to check out the security. It turns out, however, that Hepburn is not working for the bank at all but has some nefarious plans of his own…

Reuniting Cushing and Morell, who had just played Holmes and Watson for Hammer in The Hound of the Baskervilles (and co-starred in the BBC's controversial 1954 adaptation of George Orwell's 1984), this taut and compelling thriller is now regarded by many as one of Hammer’s best films and a perfect start to the Christmas holidays.

Please note, we will be screening the extended American cut of the film.

Presented in collaboration with BFI Film Audience Network and Film Noir UK.

This screening will include an introduction from Film Noir UK.
