A look at the employees and shoppers at the Neiman Marcus department store in Dallas, Texas during the holiday season.

Depicting department stores as the ultimate altar of consumerism, Frederick Wiseman’s transfixing documentary exposes America’s cultish devotion to brands.

Next to our current age of cybershopping, these glitzy tableaux of in-person purchases and corporate rituals acquire a fabled, nostalgic sheen.

Presented in partnership with Bristol Doc Club, with member Dr Steve Presence (University of Bristol) introducing the film.

The screening will then be followed by a Bristol Doc Club meet-up in the Café & Bar afterwards – everyone's welcome.
