Hitting the empathy nerve

Hitting the empathy nerve

part of Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in Oct 2014

Studio resident Rosie Poebright will introduce the thinking behind the work of "Architects of Extraordinary Adventures", Splash & Ripple, who's mission is to make beautiful, genuinely moving experiences that put the participants at the centre of the action.

To do this they use a potent mix of tools - theatre, gaming, and digital technology - to create extraordinary adventures set in the real world. Their audience finds themselves in incredible situations like travelling through time overthrowing authority or escaping prison. They're given agency through clever use of tech and game mechanics, and because they live the experience it is deeply affecting. This creates spaces where anything is possible, where it's safe to play with new ways of thinking, feeling and behaving.

The talk will include demonstrations of time-radios, medieval echo horns, a typewriter, and what ever else Rosie can dig out of her attic to make a point.

Guest programmed by Projects Coordinator Jess Hoare.
