Chris Dorle: Cities Back from the Brink: the Case of Detroit

Festival of the Future City

Please note: This event took place in Nov 2015

In recent years no city symbolises disastrous urban failure as does Detroit: major economic decline, bankruptcy, huge population loss, massive housing over supply and a downtown in decay. Yet the city is recovering. Chris Dorle (Detroit Future City) leads us through the story, focussing on what's happening now and the long-term plans for renewal and the greening of the city.

Speaker biography:

Chris Dorle works at Detroit Future City as convener of the City Systems Working Group. He has previously worked with Arbor Strategy Group (now GFK Strategic Innovation), a strategy consulting firm, and has several years experience working internationally with the US Agency for International Development. He has also worked with the US Department of State, AECOM, and the William Davidson Institute. He has a masters degree from the Gerald R Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan and a bachelors degree in Philosophy from the University of Michigan.
