Reflections on Playable City Lagos

Reflections on Playable City Lagos

part of Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Please note: This event took place in April 2016

Lunchtime Talks are a series of informal presentations at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. They normally take place at 13:00 on a Friday, are free and are open to everybody who is interested in what they do. Come along, bring a sandwich, and get to know more about the Studio community, current and up-coming projects, or residents' work.

In this Lunchtime Talk Playable City Producer Hilary O’Shaughnessy joins us to share her learnings on the recent Playable City Sprint in Lagos, Nigeria.

Playable City Lagos supported, inspired and challenged participants to develop playful interventions using creative technology that responded to specific social challenges and geographic locations in Lagos. Ideas responded to local research undertaken by the Urban Design Institute Future Lagos. Over ten days in Lagos, four UK and seven Nigerian participants created ideas and working prototypes that were demonstrated as part of a public sharing in Freedom Park. Through a programme of workshops, visits, talks and creative making activities, the Playable City Lagos programme encouraged participants to generate imaginative ideas, consider local and global contexts, research and develop prototypes and make valuable connections with each other and Lagos, that will last beyond the end of the programme.

The Pervasive Media Studio is located within the Watershed building. Let us know if you'd like a tour and we'll be happy to show you around. Send an email to admin@pmstudio.co.uk
