The Thu 8 May 18:00 screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film's directors Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth, actor Caroline Catz and musician Emilíana Torrini, who will then also perform a couple of songs.

An Unfinished Film (Subtitled)

Chinese writer-director Lou Ye (Summer Palace, Mystery, Blind Massage) recalls the COVID lockdown via a hybrid of documentary, web videos, and fragments from his past films, spinning a powerful docufiction out of a nation’s collective trauma.

The Fri 2 May 20:20 screening will be introduced by Yichen Shi, a Bristol-based Academic and Producer specialising in East Asian cinema.

Her Name Was Moviola + Walter Murch in Conversation

We’re honoured to welcome triple Oscar®-winner Walter Murch, one of cinema’s most acclaimed film and sound editors, to Bristol for a very special screening and in-conversation event to celebrate the launch of his new memoir Suddenly Something Clicked.

Copies of Murch’s new memoir are available to purchase in advance at checkout for collection on the night, with book purchases reducing the price of your film ticket to just £5.00.

Books will also be available to purchase on the night for £30.00, courtesy of booksellers Storysmith, and Murch will be signing copies following the event (on a first come, first served basis).

The Fri 16 May 18:00 screening will be introduced by our friends from Bristol Doc Club.

Bristol Doc Club will then be hosting a post-screening chat about the film with fellow documentary fans in the Café & Bar. All are welcome!

When a misguided American documentary crew in search of their next viral segment ends up in the wrong town in rural Argentina, chaos ensues. Colourful and unfiltered, Magic Farm is led by a stellar ensemble including Chloë Sevigny, Alex Wolff and Simon Rex.

The Wed 21 May 18:00 screening will be introduced by film curator Lorena Pino. Join Lorena in the Café & Bar after the screening for the Latinas in Bristol Film Club meet up and informal chat.
