We are very excited to announce this year’s programme of residency opportunities at Watershed's Pervasive Media Studio. There will be three programmes to choose from, each offering something slightly different.

Artist in Residence: Food

We’re kicking off with a call for a Food-themed residency. Run in collaboration with At-Bristol, this residency will support creatives to research, produce and present new ideas that combine art, technology and food. It offers the opportunity to be fully immersed in the development of a project idea, whilst becoming part of the inspirational network of practitioners and researchers associated with Watershed and At-Bristol Science Centre. The Food residency is open for applications now.

New Talent Residencies

Our three New Talent residencies will run from July to September. We are looking for talented and ambitious individuals at an early stage in their professional development, looking to explore ideas related to creative technology within an open and inspiring Studio community. There are three residencies - two with open briefs and one to explore ‘Making the invisible, visible’ with mentoring by former Studio residents, Interactive Scientific (iSci). These residencies are for those either just emerging from education or training, or in the process of pivoting career to include some aspect of digital creativity. The New Talent residencies are open for applications now.

Artist in Residence

And finally, in the Autumn we’ll be hosting a residency with an open brief to support development of ideas that combine art and technology. It is aimed at artists who have been practising for two or more years, who would benefit from time and space to develop their practice and make new work. The residency begins in October 2016. We’ll be accepting applications to this programme from Fri 1 April.

Ashley James Brown, Artist in Residence 2015 said:

“Working in a space with inspiring and motivating people where an open dialogue about practice can occur without prejudice, has given me the confidence in my own ability and thought process. This will strengthen my practice.”

Victoria Tillotson, Producer at Watershed said:

“We’re incredibly excited to launch this years’ Residency programme at Watershed. Past residencies have proven that actively supporting artists to develop practice allows for genuine experimentation, and brings extraordinary ideas to life. We’re really looking forward to working with this year’s cohort and connecting them into Watershed’s fantastic community of practitioners. It’s a delight to extend this invitation, and we can’t wait to see what emerges.”

People can apply as individuals or groups to all residencies, and will receive a bursary and a facilitated programme produced by Watershed. We encourage applications from all people from all creative disciplines, and especially welcome applications from Deaf or disabled practitioners. Each residency will be based at Pervasive Media Studio.

For more information and to download application pack, please see here.

And if these funded residencies don't fit your practice, timescales or ideas, you can apply any time to join the Pervasive Media Studio community.
