Voice as Infrastructure

part of Lunchtime Talks

Talk

Fri 15 May 13:00-14:00

In venue: Pervasive Media Studio
And online: Live stream on Youtube.com

This is a free event. Tune in wherever you are, online. If you want to take part in venue you need to book in advance.

In this Lunchtime Talk, Angelica Allen will share an evolving body of work that uses voice to shape collective environments for listening, connection and rest.

She'll do this by moving between live performance, workshops and emerging spatial formats. Angelica will speak about her current project RESET alongside a broader interest in care-led, voice-based practices that sit between music, technology and facilitation.

The talk will offer insight into a practice still in formation, with space for conversation around collaboration, process and what it means to build work that prioritises the body as much as the sound.

About Angelica

Angelica Allen is a vocalist, producer and sound artist working under the name My Midnight Heart. Her practice explores the voice as both instrument and environment, using live looping, layered harmonies and spatial sound to create immersive listening experiences. Rooted in themes of motherhood, diasporic identity and nervous system regulation, her work moves between performance, facilitation and experimental sound practice.
