Black Pyramid Film and Video Project (BP) was created in 1993 from an emerging need to provide training, production and exhibition of black and ethnic minority filmmaking across the South West region. Influenced by the likes of Black Audio, Ceddo, Sankofa and the black film workshop movement of the 80s; Black Pyramid set out to challenge notions of race, identity and representation across the British film and TV industry and the wider diaspora.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the first Black Pyramid film festival, founding members of Black Pyramid in collaboration with Come the Revolution (a direct legacy of the festival) gather for an illustrated panel discussion. The panel will include speakers from the workshop sector of the 80s, film and academic institutions and contemporary filmmakers to discuss progress in representation and diversity in black and ethnic minority filmmaking since the first festival in August 1993.
