MyWorld Micro-Fellowship Residency at The Reality Emulator

18 years and over

Closes Tue 18 Aug, 10:00 BST

Multiple locations

A brilliant opportunity for six creatives who work with creative technology to spend a total of fifteen days spread over a period of nine weeks in a micro-residency at the Bristol Digital Futures Institute’s Reality Emulator.

Apply now

MyWorld are inviting artists, creative technologists and practice-based researchers with an interest in making immersive work that engages people with the shared challenges of our region’s future.

Looking for participants with skillsets spanning software development technologies and human-computer interaction design, who might be working in visual media, film, theatre, live performance, location-based media, VR, XR - or something else. Whatever your specialism, you will be deeply embedded in creative scenario production and enjoy collaboration and co-creation. You will work in teams of up to four people with access to the facilities and technical support staff, to create a prototype that uses The Reality Emulator.

We are very excited about this collaboration and the interdisciplinary team format. It is great to be able to offer six people paid time to think and experiment and push ideas about the future in facilities that are not usually easily accessible for this kind of high risk creative innovation.'

- Vanessa Bellaar Spruijt, Watershed Producer (Creative Tech)

All of the participants will receive £3,000 each for a total of 15 days made up of pre-fixed and self-managed time between Tue 6 Oct and Wed 2 Dec 2026.

MyWorld believe their work will be stronger with greater diversity and welcome applications from those who are currently underrepresented in the culture, technology and higher education sectors. They understand that each person brings their experiences, backgrounds and own unique lens to what we do so no one is expected to represent any specific groups.

The application process

You are invited to answer three questions in an online questionnaire focusing on how you meet the skills and experience for the micro-fellowship, how you approach collaboration and what your relevant practice is. We will curate a cohort of participants to include on a broad spread of skills and backgrounds, shortlisted applicants will then be invited to interview.
