Watershed's very own Clare Reddington has been named in Wired Magazine's top 100 digital personalities of the year. The list published in the May issue, places Clare at number 55, for her achievements in bringing together creatives and technologists at Bristol's Pervasive Media Studio. She was also listed as one of the top ten most important women in the digital sector. Clare is Director of iShed and the Pervasive Media Studio, Watershed's venture that enables and supports innovation and collaboration between computing, communications and the creative industries. Clare lives in Southville and has been a member of Watershed's team since 2004.
To compile the list, Wired gathered a diverse panel of 120 experts to select the most important individuals influencing and shaping the digital world. The list was lead by Google's Omatt Brittin and featured iTunes' Oliver Schusser, Stephen Fry and other groundbreaking entrepreneurs, creative minds and innovative thinkers. You can read the whole article in this month's Wired magazine.
Clare said:
I'm thrilled to be recognised by Wired's prestigious panel to be featured as one of the top ten women is a real accolade. Watershed and the Pervasive Media Studio have always nurtured talent and creativity and my nomination is a reflection of this collaborative approach.
In other accolades garnered by Watershed and its collaborators, Simon Games and the Extended Theatre Experience project have both won Media Innovation Awards which recognise innovative use of media and design across the South West of England.
Long-time Watershed collaborators Simon Games won the Mobile communications category for their Mobile Social Game Engine produced with funding from the Technology Strategy Board. The judges all agreed that Simon Games had used multiple delivery methods very effectively to ensure the maximum amount of interaction and engagement from followers and contributors. This made the application both personal and meaningful. Simon Games were long-time residents of the Pervasive Media Studio, recipients of Media Sandbox commissions to extend their practice and are now based in new offices in Bristol city centre.
Watershed-led project the Extended Theatre Experience won the Media Innovation Awards live event category for extending the boundaries of theatrical experience and offering huge potential for new audiences. The research project was co-produced by Bristol Old Vic, Watershed and Hewlett Packard Labs in collaboration with director Sally Cookson and filmmaker Geoff Taylor, with support from the Technology Strategy Board.
Karen Stockdale of the Media Innovation Awards said,
There is hot competition to win one of the coveted Media Innovation Awards and all the winners can be very proud of their achievement as only the finest work has been selected to showcase the wealth of creative talent in the region.
